The kitchen has always been the driving force that keeps the house running. But the last few years have seen a major revamp in kitchen design as it is no longer just a place to cook and serve meals. Modern kitchens are social settings that are being increasingly used as a bridge between the interior and the world outside.
A large garage is the main feature around which the rest of the house revolves even as a cool wine cellar and furniture workshop make up the ground level. Beyond functionality it is the dark charred cedar siding that stands out visually here as the exterior exudes a minimal organic vibe.
A smart platform provides solid base for the home and is integrated with the living room fireplace chimney and the concrete seating next to it. The platform extending beyond the confines of the living area acts as a natural patio and connects the interior with the outdoors in a seamless fashion.
The main volume of the house in concrete and standing on steel columns contains two different levels and house the living area along with the main bedrooms. An entirely different volume contains the guest bedrooms along with the fabulous sauna and home spa.
But the creative folk at Seeley Architects had an entirely different vision in mind as they started to chalk up plans for the spectacular in Kyneton. Allowing the landscape to visually become a part of the interior using a glazed structure the architects brought dramatic splendor to this family residence with a sinuous roof that turns heads and evokes a sense of amazement.
Complete with a kitchen spacious living room bedroom and bathroom this is not just a shabby little hangout where comfort is sparse. Stunning views of the landscape are combined with coziness while the prefabricated nature of the structure ensures that the scenery around the retreat is left completely untouched. The best part of it all is that one can easily relocate the entire home by disassembling the unit if and when the need to move arises!
The striking image of a classic pitched roof combined with refined contemporary design and doubled just to make sure that it all looks even more spectacular – the dashing set on a hilltop North-East of is indeed a masterpiece!
