But the creative folk at Seeley Architects had an entirely different vision in mind as they started to chalk up plans for the spectacular in Kyneton. Allowing the landscape to visually become a part of the interior using a glazed structure the architects brought dramatic splendor to this family residence with a sinuous roof that turns heads and evokes a sense of amazement.
How often do we think about the design of the roof when it comes to home design? It definitely does not top the list of design aficionados and many of us just tend to accent that flat linear plane as the roof.
There comes a point in everyone’s life when the rush of urban life starts to wear you down and all those miles over the years start to take a toll on both your body and mind. Designed as a second home for an elderly couple that lives in offers a secluded and comfortable retreat that blends a rustic exterior with polished modern interior.
It is the basement that holds the utility rooms along with the wine cellar and a separate home gym while the first and second floors contain the living space bedrooms terraces and study areas. A modern pool and clever walkways complete the landscape with concrete being used along with wood on the inside.
Spread across two different levels the house embraces modernity even while imbibing subtle traditional features that bring together the best of both worlds. A neutral color palette coupled with warm wooden surfaces shapes the interior with the kitchen dining area and the living space on the ground floor and the bedrooms occupying the top level with wonderful views of Budapest Danube and Gellérthegy.
Each of these wooden behemoths helps in creating a stylish serene and secluded urban sanctuary even as an additional green wall adds to the overall ambiance. On the others side of the house one finds an inviting garden that becomes part of the open plan living area with kitchen and dining.
The striking image of a classic pitched roof combined with refined contemporary design and doubled just to make sure that it all looks even more spectacular – the dashing set on a hilltop North-East of is indeed a masterpiece!
