It is barely a surprise then that this Aussie family wanted a similar functional kitchen that offered a gathering spot for everyone even while opening up towards the pool and deck outside. It is Dan Gayfer Design who transformed the by giving the house a new kitchen ensuite bathroom and cabinetry.
In a world where homeowners are increasingly moving away from strictly minimal design and embracing interiors with a lot more warmth textural contrast and organic beauty this house in the suburbs of definitely takes a different path.
The entire house is divided into four different layered units with each layer having a thickness and finishing texture of its own. Since the home was crafted to meet the needs of an elderly couple all the units are at the same level and transition between one section to the next is seamless.
Step inside and the main living area feels spacious and welcoming with a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area creating a breezy living zone. Custom furniture designed by Studio MM Architect add to the uniqueness of the home as the dining table and the sparkling metallic lighting fixture above it steal the show.
The entire prefab was built off-site in a factory in the capital and brought to Pueblo Eden as two individual units. Putting it all together did not take much time at all. Saving cost resources and making construction of homes a lot easier in remote locations the creative prefab does not compromise on aesthetics whatsoever. Its beautiful wooden exterior and timber interior feels both modern and inviting even as the stone walls it sits on minimize environmental impact.
The large residence was designed for a modern family with four boys and it is the rear wing of the house that holds the four bedrooms for the teenagers along with additional living space and and outdoor hangout. It is the entry pavilion that contains the main living space with the master suite above and leads to the kitchen and dining wing. All the socials zones flow into the courtyard and pool deck where the family can come together after a long hard day.
A large garage is the main feature around which the rest of the house revolves even as a cool wine cellar and furniture workshop make up the ground level. Beyond functionality it is the dark charred cedar siding that stands out visually here as the exterior exudes a minimal organic vibe.
