In an attempt to transform an old Victorian home in the town of Ballarat into a more spacious and modern setting that meets the demands of a family of five of Moloney Architects turned to the idea of a wooden box extension.
The striking image of a classic pitched roof combined with refined contemporary design and doubled just to make sure that it all looks even more spectacular – the dashing set on a hilltop North-East of is indeed a masterpiece!
Features like the kitchen island with cooktop and the relaxing window seat with built-in storage further encourage interaction between family members. Forging a fine balance between refined flair and informal ambiance every little detail inside the Wooden Box is crafted to meet the specific needs of a modern family with an active lifestyle.
The main volume of the house in concrete and standing on steel columns contains two different levels and house the living area along with the main bedrooms. An entirely different volume contains the guest bedrooms along with the fabulous sauna and home spa.
The limited footprint of the constructed area coupled with a need to design a home that left as much of the forest land as untouched as possible meant Storm Architects opted for a simple stylish and elegant modern structure. With a timber frame and larch cladding that is interlaced with large glass windows and modern finishes the home seems both classic and contemporary at the same time.
